Inuaguration Day Thoughts- 2009

I just wanted to share my thoughts on this morning about the inauguration of President Obama.

I don't want to upset anyone unnecessarily, I've just gotten caught up in all the pomp and circumstance of the morning.

Whatever your political views are, it's undeniable, the magnitude of the day. Millions of people have demonstrated that by going to DC to witness it first hand. And I'm not one of those people who blindly believes the country will change overnight. I do think it's slightly crazy that it seems more like anointing a saint rather than swearing in a new president.

People have such high (and impossible) hopes for this president. I, like many, am holding my breath, waiting for the first real stumble of this administration. It will happen. The test is going to be the recovery, how will he handle it? Can one man inspire a country to come together toward a common goal? He's proven he can ignite a fire, can he control it? Can he repair international relations that have been so horribly damaged? Can he really get done all that he has promised? He would be the first president to do that! Can his administration save the economy of this country, one that affects the economies of so many countries around the world? I hope so.

People voted for Obama, putting so much faith in him. I don't think the heaviness of that has been lost on him. But can he deliver? He will not please everyone, by any means. In fact, he is bound to piss off a lot of people. He will probably dash the hopes of so many that are celebrating for him today. Myself included. We will see.

I don't agree with all of his policies. There will never be a president that I will 100% agree with. There shouldn't be. We should question our leaders. That's where we went wrong in the past. It's something I still don't understand. Why didn't anyone question our past leaders at the time they NEEDED to be questioned? We can only blame ourselves (in general) when that happens.

For now, I see a President that has potential to be one of the greatest US Presidents in history. This coming from me...someone that trusts politicians as much as I trust a pedophile in a day care center. But I have hope. Today, at least, I have hope.

That's all I wanted to say.

Yes! I'm alive!!

Ha! I didn't realize it's been this long since my last post! Sorry about that, if anyone is actually reading this. It's been a crazy busy holiday season for me. Now that it's over, maybe I can get back to normal.

What have I been doing? Well, for one, I have been working on setting up my own web site for my jewelry, and a few other things. It is an e-commerce site where you will be able to purchase my designs. There will be more (eventually) than what is currently in my Etsy shop. It is currently under construction, so don't expect alot right now. But as time goes on, I will add quite a bit, I have tons of new things that have been piling up!
